The Tabernacle is the center of worship for the MVCMA and also a National Historic Landmark. It was built in 1879 as part of the Methodist summer campground for open air Christian revivals. Religious services are still held weekly in July and August. Attendees originally camped in tents, but many later built ornate Gothic-style gingerbread cottages in the late 19th century. The area here is called Trinity Park, Wesleyan Grove, or simply The Campground.
